Project

In the Upper Main Valley there are ecologically valuable areas that belong to the Natura 2000 network of protected areas. The Districts of Bamberg and Lichtenfels, together with their project partners, have recognized the ecological potential of the Main Valley. Over 4 years (2010 to 2014), with the help of the LIFE-Nature project, these communities will be implementing many steps to create and improve environmental habitats, and inform people about nature.Project partners include the Bavarian Society for the Protection of Birds (Landesbund für Vogelschutz in Bayern e.V.) and the Federal Nature Conservation of Bavaria (Bund Naturschutz in Bayern e.V.).  Additional support is also provided by numerous communities, government agencies, associations and institutions.
